Madison Hoop Dreams Basketball Camp - Week 3 Information

We're Back !!! Madison Hoop Dreams is proud to offer 5 weeks of summer basketball camp this summer at the H K Middle School (451 RT 81, Killingworth). This beautiful facility has a gym with 3 basketball courts. In addition, we have use of the adjacent, air conditioned, cafeteria. In 2017, we had a very successful program there with 90 to 100 campers each of our 5 weeks. For over 20 years, we were the most popular summer basketball day camp in Connecticut. We anticipate returning to that status this summer (2018 and 2019 we had to go to East Haven Ice Rink for our program. In 2020, with the pandemic, no one had camps. In 2021, we were only able to have one week at HK Middle School). Now we are back to normal! We welcome campers (boys and girls) entering grade 3 through grade 10. Our 5 weeks of camp are June 27 – July 1, June 27 – July 1, July 11 – 15, July 18 – 22, and July 25 – 29. Here are a few reasons why our program attracts players from 20 area towns: We have 2 coaches for each team of up to 10 players, a full time trainer, and 2 supervisors. We are able to validate each camper and motivate them to improve. We have ball handling drills, stations that focus on specific skills such as pure shooting form, and contests each day. Each camper will play two games each day. We have 3 guest speakers each week. With 90 to 100 campers, we are able to have 3 leagues and more homogeneous grouping (gr 3 & 4, gr 5 & 6 and gr 7 – 10). Contest finals are on Friday with trophies for the winners at a closing ceremony starting at 2:30 pm. Other awards from coaches will be presented. Please be aware that every camper does not get a trophy for attending. We hope that a week of competition and fun, plus making new friends and improving their skills will suffice. We encourage parents to attend the closing ceremony. We also welcome parents to stop by during the week. Then you will know why your son or daughter thinks this is their favorite camp ever ! We've made a decision not to purchase basketballs from in China. However, we will give a #6 (28.5) basketball to the first 75 campers in grades 3 – 5 and girls in all grades to register and send in full payment for 1 week. We will give a #7(29.5) basketball to the first 75 boys in grades 6 – 9 to register and pay in full for 1 week. Every camper gets a “quick dry” camp shirt. The cost is $300 for one week. Families with a total of 4 weeks or more pay $250/camper/ week. We are a non-profit organization and provide financial help when needed --- just contact Coach Bill Barker at 203-494-6905. Since becoming a non-profit, we are very proud to have given over $130,000 to college scholarships and to charity. Prior to 2019, each year, we sponsored 5 Wounded Warriors, 5 St Jude's Hospital Children, 5 Shriner's Hospital Children and awarded $5,000 in college scholarships. We hope to continue those charities and add 5 Tunnel2Towers as well this year and annually.
