Madison Hoop Dreams School of Basketball Information

We have received approval from Beach & Recreation Director, Scott Erskine, on our request to use one of the courts at the Surf Club to hold our School of Basketball. We will have these clinics on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, each week starting April 19 through June 11 --- a total of 24 sessions. We will use Tuesdays and Thursdays as make-up for any rain dates. We will have players in grades 3 – 5 from 4 PM to 5 PM. Players in grades 6 – 8 will meet from 5 PM to 6 PM. Basketball legend, Bobby Moore, will be our lead instructor. As per state regulations, we will limit each session to 20 players. Masks are suggested --- but, not required as per state regulations. We will have additional coaches, based on attendance, to maintain a ratio of at least 1 to 5 (coaches to players). The cost it $20 per session. For those who pay in advance, the total is $450. Otherwise, it is ok to pay by the week ($60). For anyone who pays in advance for the 24 weeks, or weekly. will get a credit or refund for sessions they are unable to attend. The School of Basketball focuses on ball handling skills and proper shooting techniques. We will also instruct on proper defensive stance and footwork. It is always gratifying to see the progress from session 1 to session 24. Since it is an individual development program, new players are welcome and will get special instruction and encouragement. Players with established skills are challenged to “work hard” and “get better” ! As players get better, we hold them to higher standards! For those interested in summer camp: we are hoping the area Boards of Education will allow school gyms to be used this summer. Preferably, we are requesting the Polson gym in Madison or the HK Middle School in Killingworth. If no gyms are available, we intend to have an outdoor program to run from 9 AM to 1 PM. Our hope would be to use the Surf Club or the Brown School outdoor courts. Hopefully, we will have a commitment for a site by May 1st.
