Madison Hoop Dreams School of Basketball
|
|
Madison Hoop Dreams will have our "School of Basketball" program at the Polson Middle School, 302 Greenhill Rd, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in March, April, and May for grades 3 - 8 ( we accept 2nd graders with a love for basketball and high school players who desire to get better ball handling and shooting skills) The focus is on ball handling skills and pure shooting form. This is the 21st anniversary of offering this program. We are very proud of the many players who have gone on to start on many area basketball teams (both girls and boys). With improved offensive skills, players have more confidence in their abilities and increase their love for basketball. We will teach the art of shooting with drills they can take home, In addition, our instruction includes ball handling drills, different types of dribbling, pivoting, all the types of passes, driving, and moving without the ball. Players shoot over 100 shots each session! Come join the fun! Last year, one camper (a 4th grader!) learned how to shoot an opposite handed layup after just one session !We love working with all campers through group and individual instruction!
The dates are: March 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27; April 1, 3, 5, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29; May 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27. Each session is from 6 pm to 7:15 pm. The cost is $20 per session ($16/hour). We offer a different instructor each night. On Mondays, Bobby Moore (basketball legend from New Haven) will be the head coach. On Wednesdays, Brett Zanardi (assistant coach at Conn College) will be the head coach. On Fridays, Rich Pagliuca (one of the top coaches ever in CT) will be the head coach. Players get a variety of instruction to enhance their focus on the various skill sets. Each of the 3 coaches is considered one of the top basketball coaches in the state.
It would be very helpful if each player attended with some of their friends or teammates to enhance their enjoyment of the activities. We intend to have 1 coach for every 5 players. We offer financial assistance to families in need of help. Please call Coach Bill Barker (203-494-6905) with any questions. If you choose to attend all sessions (30 days), the cost is $540. If you miss some sessions, a credit or refund is given. If you pay by the month: March (8 days) is $150; April (10 days) is $185; May (12 days) is $225. A credit, or refund, will be given for sessions missed. The 3rd choice is to pay by the week or pay at each session.

April Vacation Basketball Camp
|
|
We are pleased to announce that we will have our April vacation camp at the Walter C Polson Middle School in Madison. If your son or daughter, in grades 3 - 8, loves basketball, this is a great opportunity for them to improve their skills and use their skills in daily competition. We have 3 leagues to create grade appropriate competition and we balance the teams to keep the players excited. Last year, we had 75 campers. Our capacity is 80. Please register early to ensure you have a spot.
Our coaching staff is very good at what they do. They love basketball and they love to help each player improve. Our goal is to have every player leave the gym each day excited to return the next day for more fun. If any camper does not feel that way, I hope their parents will call me and let me know so we can improve their experience going forward.
Camp is from 9 AM to 3 PM each day.The cost is $250 for the week. If players attend daily, the cost is $60 per day. If finances are too tight, please call me to request financial aid.
Payment plans are also available.Since we feel that attending our camps is a very valuable experience, we do not want finances to be the determining factor. Every young person deserves the chance to make new friends and compete against others in an exciting game.
If you have any questions, please call or text me at 203-494-6905. Or email me at wab6933@gmail.com.

Summer Basketball Camp
|
|
Wow! This year marks our 30th year offering summer basketball camps, For over 20 of those years, we were the most popular basketball day camp in CT. We anticipate an outstanding summer at the HK Middle School (451 Ct Rt 81, Killingworth)! It is a beautiful facility with 3 full courts. Our focus will be on having lots of fun as we work on shooting and ball handling fundamentals as well as building a solid foundation of basic defensive skills and a spirit of teamwork. If, when you pick up your kids at the end of the day, they are exhausted, exhilarated, and anxious to return the next day, then we figure we've done a pretty good job.
We are there each day, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, for an extra ½ hour before and after each day's regular session (9 AM to 3 PM). Players can use the time to work on their shooting skills. The extra time is to accommodate parent's work schedule.
The cost is $300/camper. For additional weeks, we have a “family friendly pricing".. The cost for a second week is $275.. For the third week, the cost is $250.. For the 4th week, the cost is $225. For weeks 5 & 6 the cost is $200/week.
Last summer, we had 12 campers attend all 6 weeks. Each week is a unique experience and it never gets boring. We have many campers who attend 1 week and successfully plead with their parents to attend more weeks.Last summer, a 4th grader wrote a powerpoint presentation for her parents about why she should attend all 6 weeks --- she attended all 6 weeks!
I encourage you to register early to avoid being placed on a waiting list. Not to worry, deposits are refundable given adequate notice or for emergencies. And if your child wants to attend my camp but your checking account says otherwise, please don't be bashful. Put your request for financial assistance in writing (wab6933@gmail.com) or please call or text Coach Bill Barker (203-494-6905) and I'll make every effort to make this summer one your child will never forget. We also offer payment on an installment plan.
It wouldn't be a Madison Hoop Dreams Camp without exciting guest speakers, and this year we're going to try to outdo ourselves. I am seeking out members of the UCONN Huskies (men and women) and the CT. Sun to visit with our campers (including pictures and autographs) and share their unique perspectives on the game we all love so much.
